What is the difference between an individual and a freelancer?
Both of these membership categories cost the same and share the same benefits; however the freelancer category has been created for individuals who ideally have been audited and opt to be placed onto our portal. The Portal can be viewed by agencies and in-house teams who are looking to employ freelancers on a project or long term basis. The PRCA has created a formal relationship with PR freelancers so that PRCA members can be certain that they are hiring people that are competent in the services they provide and in professional behaviour. By appearing on our freelancer portal, these individuals are searchable according to capabilities and can be found by potential employers.
CMS
Freelancers are encouraged to complete CMS (Communications Management Standard) which they can do through our external auditors. By completing CMS which is an audit of PR excellence and professionalism, a level of credibility and industry standard can be assumed. CMS also encourages professional development a key focus for our individuals.
The PRCA Freelancer Portal
The Freelancer Portal is an initiative from the PRCA, specifically designed for PR professionals who work as freelancers. It matches freelancers to agencies and in house teams who need ad hoc or on-going support.
More and more people are choosing to work as freelancers for their own clients as well as for their previous employer - this includes agencies. The PRCA received many requests from consultancy members to create a relationship with PR freelancers.
