Event Overview

Everyone is talking about diversity and inclusion these days. Yet there's still truly little understanding within the PR and communications industry about why we don’t fully reflect the principles we preach.

and hasn’t yet fully embraced the value of and need for lived experiences

We know it's urgent. We know it's long overdue. We also know that we all could be doing better. What is holding us back from embracing the value and need for greater diversity and inclusion within our industry?

But before jumping into the practicalities and possible solutions, let's try and understand what we mean when we use the word "DIVERSITY" and “INCLUSION”.

This one-hour webinar will explore the essential questions that need to be asked by every single one of us who works in PR and communications.

Rax Lakhani, Chair of the PRCA's Diversity Network and member of the new Race and Ethnicity Equity Board (REEB) will be joined by Shavaun Glen to talk through the human-level barriers to diversity, inclusion and belonging that impact on our broader organisational structural processes.

Shavaun Glen is a communications expert who has built her career on her passion to unlock corporate messaging around purpose, ethical principles, and stakeholder engagement. Her consultancy Seen + Heard works with brands to help explore and identify the most effective and efficient methods in establishing people-driven objectives and goals.

During the discussion, Rax and Shavaun will share some of their stories and insights. Participants will also be encouraged to interact with their questions and issues.

By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with ideas, tools and resources that they need to start implementing their own D&I goals within an organisation, agency or team.

Zoom links will be sent out to all attendees 24 hours prior to the event start time. If you sign up after this time, please contact kyrie.abrahams@prca.org.uk for the link.

This event is worth 15 points in the PRCA CPD Programme.
