Event Overview

The PRCA Built Environment Group are hosting a panel discussion on the latest thinking around creating smart cities and embedding innovative future tech in our built environment.

The session will cover some of the key innovations which are already changing our environment for the better, and look ahead at new initiatives which could create good places for people to live.

We have Cllr Clyde Loakes, Deputy Leader of Waltham Forest as part of the panel talking about Waltham Forest’s extensive work to promote walking and cycling, improving air quality and health outcomes. Cllr Loakes will be joined by Dr Steve Melia, senior lecturer in transport and planning at the University of the West of England. As one of the country’s eminent thinkers on innovation in built environment, Dr Melia will outline the research he is doing to help create sustainable solutions for UK cities, including in EV charging infrastructure.

Clyde and Steve will be joined by Jamie Gordon, Head of Infrastructure & Energy at BECG, who has a wealth of experience leading a number of cutting-edge infrastructure projects across the country.

The event will be hosted by PRCA BE Chairman Julius Duncan, and will cover a wide range of topics including future transport, EV infrastructure, car-free communities, digital innovation, internet of things in the public realm, sustainability and net zero agenda.

The Built Environment Group brings together PR and communications professionals who wish to promote best practice and drive understanding on how PR and communications can support this sector.
