Event Overview

The PR and Communications industry across the East Midlands is growing, but what impact will COVID have on our region?

This panel event hosted jointly with CIPR Midlands, will explore how the region is 'surviving and thriving' through the pandemic.

Our session panellists will provide insight, sharing their views on the region's economic outlook, managing the pandemic and return to normal, and how our local media is adapting.

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A.

Panellists

Jenny Caven (Director of External Affairs at Slimming World)

Jenny leads a talented in-house team whose role is to build awareness of Slimming World’s methods, communicate its brand values, and establish integrity and trust in the company’s weight management programme through communications with government, media and behaviour change and scientific researchers.

A Chartered PR Practitioner, Jenny started her career in international journalism before moving into Corporate Communications. She has previously worked in local government and with a number of non-governmental organisations, in addition to working as a freelance journalist, editor of a trade publication and advertising copywriter.

Claire Reynolds (Head of Communications & Marketing at Nottingham Hospitals Charity)

Claire - previously Head of PR at Tank, an award-winning PR agency based in Nottingham - is Head of Communications & Marketing at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, which supports Nottingham’s NHS hospitals.

Claire is an outspoken advocate for supportive and inclusive work cultures, and previously won the CIPR Outstanding Young Communicator Award.

Natalie Fahy (Editor of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire Live for REACH PLC)

Natalie trained as a reporter on the Halesowen News before going on to work for the Richmond and Twickenham Times. She subsequently covered the Royal Courts of Justice for a London-based news agency before joining Express Newspapers.

Natalie was previously UK correspondent for German newspaper Bild and worked for Sky News on the digital desk before joining the Post in 2012 as digital editor.

Chris Hobson (Director of Policy and External Affairs at the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce)

Chris leads the information and representation teams at East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, with responsibility for all work areas relating to the development of Chamber policy and lobbying activity, as well as the Marketing team.

He has a background working in policy in both the private and public sectors and was previously Lead Manager for the National Housing Federation in the East Midlands, representing the organisation's and members' interests at a national level.
