Summary: Webinar Zoom Event

Event Type: Group Event

Event Overview

At its launch in 2020, there was a great deal of speculation about whether or not Times Radio would be a success for News UK and a brand so synonymous with the written word. Less than two years later and following stellar debut RAJAR results, revealing an impressive weekly reach of 637,000, and we have our answer (prior to these figures being released, insiders had suggested they would have been happy with half a million weekly listeners). But what can we learn from this success, what does it tell us about media landscape, and what does it mean for PR professionals?

Tim Levell, Times Radio’s Programme Director, has said that the station provides quality news and analysis with “the space for conversation not confrontation”. An exemplar of this is the universally praised Matt Chorley Show, produced by Poppy Bullard. At this event, you will hear first-hand from Poppy about the show, as well how Times Radio has turned the newspaper of record, and its associated digital properties, into a phenomenal success story on air.

Attendees will discover how Matt has gone from renowned written journalist, to presenting Red Box, news podcast of the year, and now a leading UK radio broadcaster. They will find out how The Times and Times Radio collaborate but also maintain and forge their own identities respectively. As well as when and how best to pitch a story and guest to Poppy, when appropriate to do so.

Speakers:

  • Dan Stainsby CMPRCA, Broadcast Group Chairman
  • Poppy Bullard, Producer, Times Radio
