Rename your street in solidarity with Ukraine

16 cities in 13 countries have already renamed streets in solidarity with Ukraine. What about your country?

The Ukraine Street campaign was launched as a response against Russia’s cynical attempts to effectively cancel Ukraine and its independence. For more than four months Ukraine has been inspiring the world to fight for the values of democracy and freedom. Therefore, people all over the world rename the streets to make Ukraine part of their cities as an act of solidarity to Ukrainians.

“A daily reminder that Ukraine is a sovereign state that will prevail and always exist, no matter how hard Russia tries to deny our right to exist,” Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said about the campaign.

The war is waged on many fronts: military, diplomatic, cultural, and information. Thus, at this decisive turning point of our history, we especially need the help of the European communications industry. Today, we call for your support in promoting the project among your colleagues and partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Luxemburg, North Macedonia, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

We ask for help with what you do best: communications, incredible creativity, and relations with the public, media, influencers, and authorities. Everything to help us push the historic decision to rename streets in your country. Join the Ukraine Street campaign!

Here are some last updates from European countries, that have already demonstrated solidarity with Ukraine fighting with the russian invaders:

This June Tallinn, Estonia established Ukraine Square in Lembitu Park, behind the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This location is rather symbolic as the historic buildings of the area were almost completely destroyed in the March 1944 bombings of Tallinn by the Soviet. This fact parallels the similar destruction brought by the russian military in Ukrainian cities today.

In May two Ukrainian "centers of gravity" appeared on the map of Cannes, France - Taras Shevchenko Square and the Ukrainian House.

In April, four Polish cities named squares in honor of Ukraine: The Defenders of Ukraine 2022 Square in Poznan, The Free Ukraine Square in front of the russian consulate general in Krakow, The Heroic Mariupol Square nearby the russian consulate general in Gdansk and The Free Ukraine Square in Gdynia.

On April 28th, 2022, Stockholm, Sweden officially renamed the park next to the russian embassy in Sweden to "Fria Ukrainas plats"/ "Place of free Ukraine".

Since April 27th, 2022, a Reykjavik City landmark (Iceland) located only 50 meters from the russian embassy will henceforth be known as Kyiv Square. Officially, now the square has a double name in Old Icelandic and Icelandic "Kænugarður / Kýiv-torg", respectively. The name of the square in the Old Icelandic language "Kænugarður" is intended to emphasize the thousand-year history of Kyiv.

All of that is in addition to the work that has already been undertaken in several countries all over the world in the first month of the war.
