Whistleblowing
Employment Guideline
Employment Guideline
Since 1999 workers who ‘blow the whistle’ on their employers have had the right not tbe dismissed or otherwise penalised as a result. The legislation protecting whistleblowers requires the worker to act in the public interest and, in most cases, raise his or her concerns directly with the employer. Rarely will a worker be afforded theprotection of legislation where he has made adisclosure directly to a third party, such as the press.
